Subject Continuity Perhaps one of the most interesting anomalies found while Reverse Recording Deciphering is the matter of Subject Continuity. Subject Continuity is when the subject matter of the Forward Lyric has the same or similar subject matter or topic as in the Reverse Lyric. While Reverse Deciphering this song I didn't pay any attention to what the Forward Lyrics were until I had completely interpreted the Reverse Lyrics. That way I was insuring that my Reverse Deciphering outcome was not influenced or prejudiced by me knowing what the corresponding Forward Lyrics were. Here is an example of Subject Continuity: In Cut 15 the Subject Continuity is very interpretive on my part: Forward- "Santa comes without noise" Reverse- "Tell me why…
Fills my heart has When someone dies, especially when it's sudden or unexpected, a common cry from the deceased loved ones is WHY! The Reverse Lyric of Tell me why... Fills my hurt has could be considered just such a plea. The subject here is the unpredictability and suddenness of death, one second there's life the next instance it's gone. Now on the Forward Lyric side of Santa comes without noise. Since Santa is about Christmas and Christmas is about Jesus you can substitute Jesus for Santa to get Jesus comes without noise. In the Bible Jesus is quoted as saying "Behold I come as a thief...". A thief's best talent is his ability to not be seen or heard. He also relies on you not knowing when he's coming. So as in the Reverse Lyric, the Subject Continuity is sudden unexpected death.
